Abba T. Makama, Co-director of the popular Nigerian anthology film, ‘Juju Stories’ has revealed plans to make the anthology into a series.
He made this known at the recently concluded Surreal 16 film festival where he stated that this decision is born out of the possibility that the anthology still has more stories that are yet to be explored, and needs to be told.
The film made its third debut following AFRIFF.
“We came up with six stories at first but then after the six stories, it didn’t work so we decided to come up with three new stories and just focus on each person telling one juju story.”
He went further to explain what happened to the six stories when asked if he ‘threw’ them away.
“Throw away is a strong word. We put it in storage because we still plan to visit the world of Juju so watch out for Juju Stories: The Series.”
He also explained how Juju Stories is a combination of four years of archived stories shared through group stories.
The three-part anthology film directed by Makama, CJ Obasi, and Michael Omonua, explores the concept of juju (dark magic) starring Timini Egbuson, Belinda Agedah Yanga, Paul Utomi, Adebukola Oladipupo, Nengi Adoki, and more.
