Today, December 26,2021, is also boxing day. Tracing the history of boxing day, one theory of today’s holiday says it was traditionally a day off for servants and a day when they would receive special presents from their masters. The presents traditionally given to the poor and servants was called a ‘Christmas box’, hence the name boxing day.
On this beautiful day that succeeds Christmas day, some actors and actresses in the Nigeria movie industry were born.
1. Sola Sobowale
Sola Sobowale is a Nigerian film actress, screenwriter, director and producer. She was born December 26, 1963. Sola Sobowale had her big break in 2001, in the premiere of Nigeria’s popular television drama series Super Story: Oh Father, Oh Daughter.
Sola Sobowale is married and has four children. She clocks 58 today.
In 2019, Sola Sobowale received the African movie academy awards (AMAA) for ‘best actress in a leading role’, for her role in the 2018 Nigerian film titled king of boys.
Before shooting into stardom, Sola Sobowale had roles in the village headmaster, mirror in the sun and in the Yoruba film, asewo to re Mecca.
Sola Sobowale joined acting through numerous roles in movies produced by ‘awada kerikeri group’ under the leadership of veteran actor, Adebayo Salami.
Over the years, Sola Sobowale had scripted, co-scripted, directed and produced several Nigerian films. Sola scripted, produced and directed, ohun oko somida, a 2010 Nigerian film that stars Adebayo Salami.
Sobowale featured in dangerous twins, a 2004 Nigerian drama film produced by Tade Ogidan, written and directed by Niji Akanni.
Sola Sobowale also featured in family on fire produced and directed by Tade Ogidan.
2. Biodun Sofuyi Okeowo
Biodun Okeowo popularly known as Omo Butty who clocked 42 today, was born on December 26th, 1979, in Fadeyi, Lagos State. She hails from Remo, in Ogun State. She grew up in a polygamous family and is the youngest of the five children from her mother’s side. She is the only daughter of her mother.
Her father, Mr. Okeowo, was an actor who acted with popular actors such as Jide Kosoko. He was part of the ‘awarara theatre group’. She seems to have followed in her father’s footsteps.
Even though she is a trained journalist, Biodun has a passion for acting. However, acting was an after-thought, having failed to secure employment after graduating.
She started her acting career in 2006. She got her first role in eniyemi but came to limelight with the movie Tolani osinrin.
Today, the curvy actress is a creative, skillful, and highly talented actress known for her impressive interpretation of her roles in movies. She has earned numerous roles in Yoruba movies.

The actress had a man in her life, but according to her, the man, who is the father of her two children (Ifeoluwa and Ayomide) cannot be called her husband as he never paid her bride price.
Biodun Okeowo and the said husband separated when she found out that he had married someone else. She is currently single. She has occasionally joked that she had her children out of wedlock.
3. Quadri Oybamiji Tolani
Quadri Oyebamiji Tolani popularly known as Sisi Quadri is a Nigerian yoruba movie actor. He was born on the 26th of December, 1979 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Sisi Quadri who clocks 42 today has been recognized for his style of acting and has contributed immensely to the movie industry as he is a very talented actor.
Sisi Quadri started acting about ten years ago and the movie from which he got his nickname ”Sisi Quadri” was titled seranko seniyan. He revealed that his own role in movies is to talk and this he does with alacrity. He said while others act posh, rugged or any other role frequently in movies, he is not intimidated as he knows what he perfectly is good at. He revealed that off set, he is not able to abuse people with words like he is used to doing in movies but anytime he is acting, the inspiration to abuse people always flows through him. 4. Oluwabukola Faimot Olatunji
Oluwabukola Olatunji is a fast-rising nollywood actress, filmmaker, entrepreneur and producer. She was born December 26.
Bukky Olatunji as she is fondly called hails from Osun state but was born in Ivory Coast (Abidjan).
She is a graduate of public administration from The polytechnic of Ibadan. She produced nollywood movies, Ife inu mi, Inioluwa, Apeka and some more.
