Nigerian singer and MAVIN Records artist, Ayra Starr has started the year on a positive note as she gets listed as one of the artists to watch out for in 2022 by Shazam.
Shazam released its predictions 2022 playlist on January 4, 2022, highlighting five artists who will make a splash in 2022. They include Ayra Starr, Danny Lux, Lyn Lapid, Sad Night Dynamite, and StayC.
While speaking about Ayra Starr, Shazam in an except spoke incredibly well about Nigerian singer saying:
“Ayra Starr’s rise this year was largely mounted on her breakout track ‘Bloody Samaritan’ which had its first Shazam in Lagos. It was released as the lead single of the Nigerian singer-songwriter’s debut album 19 & Dangerous but took on a life of its own as listeners were drawn in by an alluring violin melody that drops into contagious Afropop magic.
“An undeniable jam, ‘Bloody Samaritan’ was the most Shazamed song by a local female artist in Nigeria this year — an impressive accomplishment considering it came out only in July.”
What this means for Ayra Starr
Over the last couple of months, Ayra Starr has emerged from being just another name of an upcoming artist in the Nigerian music scene to one of the known names with the release of ‘Ayra Starr EP,’ ’19 and Dangerous,’ and her hit single, ‘Bloody Samaritan.’
It is quite obvious that the Nigerian singer is on a path to huge stardom, and this confirmation from being listed as an artist to watch out for by Shazam further proves the need to work even harder and creatively.
If more than anything right now, she needs to focus on creating more sounds her audience can relate with and widen her fanbase even more than she already has.
