Seasoned actor Mangaliso Ngema who is known for playing Lunga Zondo on Generations was recently attacked by thousands of locusts in Northern Cape.
The former Generations actor has called on the government’s intervention after the attack.
The actor was shocked when he recently visited Northern Cape and was welcomed by the insects and shared videos on his social media accounts. He shared several videos of locusts blocking his way and is heard complaining about them getting inside his car.
In the video the actor is heard saying:
“The locust swarms in the Northern Cape and the Free State are a big problem for farmers.”
“I’d only heard of them in the news, but I saw for myself this past weekend.”
“Our government needs to step up to help farmers, otherwise, we are in trouble.”
He also shared another video that showed the locusts stuck in his car.
REACTIONS FROM HIS ‘GENERATIONS’ FANS
Ngema’s video shocked his Generations fans and industry friends who believe that they were sent by God.
Umkhokha actress Sthandiwe Kgoroge commented:
“Omg! What is God saying that we are not getting?”
Masiya said:
“Exodus 10. God will always warn his people before something terrible comes.”
“I’m not preaching; however, this reminds me of what happened to Pharaoh when he decided to not listen to God.”
Thembani Mbasa:
“Don’t start with the Bushiri type of thinking again.”
“God loves us so great including those locusts. It’s their time, it will pass.”
The locust swarms are making driving conditions very difficult for Northern Cape residents – and Free State residents.
The alarm was sounded by the Northern Cape Department of Agriculture last back in December.
They have a devastating impact on crops and plant-life and have become a road safety issue.
Dirty windscreens and poor visibility are likely to cause traffic disruption on some of the biggest routes running between these two provinces.
Motorists have been advised to express the utmost caution if they end up encountering these locust swarms.
