How the songs I dedicated to Goodluck Jonathan and His Wife cost me my position – Onyeka Onwenu narrates

Veteran Nigerian entertainer, Onyeka Onwenu, has revealed how she got removed from her position at the National Centre for Women Development.

During her recent interview on Channels TV, Onyeka discussed her involvement in politics and her impact so far.

You may have heard the name Onyeka Onwenu as she has contributed to the country in various ways. Onyeka has been involved in politics, entertainment, journalism, and activism.

Speaking about her journey in politics, Onyeka said,

“I would like to thank Ex-president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan (popularly known as mama Peace), for allowing me to lead at the National Centre for Women Development. My team and I turned the place around for the better, and money started coming into the organization. I outperformed previous Director-Generals at the agency.”

Addressing why she got removed from her position, Onyeka said,

“I could not continue because somebody did not want me there. I heard stories that I sang ‘Run, Goodluck Run’ and ‘Mama Peace’ for Jonathan and his wife, respectively. I sang both songs while I was in office at my own expense. I wrote the song, Mama Peace, for a woman I admire. I have no apology concerning both songs because she is indeed Mama peace. I am a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Some people urged the new stakeholders to retain me in the position due to my performance, but I did not struggle with fate.”
