When you have conversations about Fuji music all over the world, there are names you cannot do away with, and Wasiu Alabi ‘Pasuma‘ is one of those names.
Pasuma or ‘Oganla Fuji’ as he is fondly called by his numerous fans is a Fuji maestro who is categorized among the A-list Fuji musicians all across the world and while celebrating his 37th year on stage as a Fuji musician, he further cemented why he should be regarded as a legend in the industry.
According to him, he started the Fuji music journey when he was in secondary school and has had 60 recorded albums in his name since the release of his first album.
“From my first album titled, ‘Recognition’ to ‘MMM – Money Making Machine’ – I have recorded 60 albums since I stepped out as a musician.
“Some of these new generation singers, when they meet me, tell me that their parents influenced them to listen to my music, meaning they grew up listening to my music. That’s to prove to you how old I am in the Nigerian music industry.”
Respected as one of the old muscles in the Fuji music industry, Pasuma started his journey at the Nigerian Model High School in 1979, choosing music over sports back then, but unlike every other of his colleagues who only stick to the old ways of doing things, Pasuma has been able to diversify, widening his influence in the Nigerian music scene.
He has been on shows where he was properly placed as a celebrity and has done songs with modern-day artists, and his dress sense is always on point, positioning him as one of the people’s favorite Fuji musicians when it comes to creating a brand for himself.
