The topic of ‘sex for roles’ in Nollywood has become a very important topic of discussion for a while now with many people weighing in on their opinion. Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo has shared his sentiment on the topic, asking that the public treat the topic with levity.
It is important to note, however, that ‘sex for role’ in Nollywood cannot just be dismissed as claims have been made by several people, and even though those claims are not direct, they cannot be simply dismissed.
Kanayo O. Kanayo addressed this in his latest Instagram post. The post was a video of him on a movie set directing a movie and the caption asked that the public not take ‘sex for roles’ in Nollywood seriously because the claims are from those who fail to live up to their roles.
“When you hear of sex for roles in Nollywood, please do not believe all you are told. Many of the girls are not working hard to live up to the roles they are cast for. Quite a shame”
This statement has generated lots of reactions, some in agreement with what the movie veteran said while some are correcting him on the delivery of his opinion.
Reactions to Kanayo O. Kanayo’s statement

“Blessed is he whose sins have been forgotten. Some people were lucky that Instagram was not in existence when that was the issue in Nollywood.” – @emperor_viii
“You are very correct sir! When they cannot deliver they claim it’s because they refused the advances of the director.” – @queennationalpride
