The organizers of The Tube Awards, led by Niran Adedokun have announced their intentions to honor Nollywood thespians and filmmakers in 27 award categories.
This information was revealed to the general public during The Tube Awards’ unveiling ceremony on Sunday, which had a huge number of Nollywood actors, actresses, and practitioners in attendance at the Eko Hotel & Suites.
The unveiling event was anchored by veteran actor, Segun Arinze with others like Toni Kan, Ada Ameh, Kingsley James, Bakky Adeoye, Fidelis Duker, Tope Duker, Yemi solace, Lancelot Imasuen, Charles Novia, Madam Kofo, Tai Ajai-Lycett, Emeka Ossai, and several others in attendance.
“This is the first time in Nigeria the TV industry will be getting a well-deserved spotlight. It will be a night of a mixture of glamour and serious, and we are excited to share what we have in store for the industry.
“Despite the technological advancement in TV viewing, TV remains a valuable platform where memorable stories and characters are told and built. So, this is our way of reminding the public why those who bring these stories to life are important by recognizing and rewarding excellence.”
According to Tube Afrique, the organizers of the award, there will be a focus to reward achievements in the artistic and technical fields of TV production in Nigeria and across Africa as well.

The Tube Awards also have the general eligibility criteria for nomination on their website. To be eligible for nomination, a programme must meet the following criteria:
- Its first transmission between January 1 and December 31 of the preceding year.
- The programmes must have aired on either terrestrial, cable, or digital television platforms.
- There will be only one category of awards for the African Region at the beginning.
- The programme must have been conceptualized, developed, filmed, and broadcast in one of the regions in Africa.
