Single or not, the song is widely accepted and was reposted countlessly on people’s social media platform on and after Valentine’s Day
3. Mercy – Adekunle Gold
Adekunle Gold released the fourth single Mercy, of his studio album titled Catch me if You Can late in January. On Mercy, AG gets as real as possible, admitting his fame and growth in the music industry, and questioning the substance of people’s support for him. The song was produced by talented beat maker Blaise Beat.
Mercy has been trending ever since it was released and it must be because it’s not just a ‘feel good’ song without substance, it’s a song that is significant and relatable to many people.
4. Calm down – Rema
The Prince of Afrobeats; Afro-Rave to be precise released his first single of the year, Calm Down and it has been on repeat on many gadgets in and outside Nigeria.
For months, Rema has been teasing his fans with news that his Rave and Roses album is almost ready, and he will be releasing something new.
When he finally noticed he was beginning to sound a lot like music star, Wizkid with the fake promises and fans were actually tired of hearing the same story every week, he decided to drop Calm Down to calm them down.
Despite backlash from some of his fans when it was first released, the songs seems to have truly calmed them down.
Even the Savage community (Twitter) surprisingly likes Calm Down, and as usual it’s been trending as a Tiktok mime video for some weeks now, with DonJazzy and Rema reposting many of them.

7. Ozumba Mbadiwe – Reekardo Banks feat. Fireboy
Serving as Reekado’s debut of the year, Ozumba’s remix follows the Singer’s body of work, OTR, Vol.1 (EP) which was released last year. On the smash Amapiano tune, Reekado employs Fireboy DML’s vocals in doing justice to this remix! And yes, it’s a smashing hit.

Ocean is an awesome tune with great instrumental and well-blended vocals, that hits nicely. —And if the background vocals on Ocean sound familiar to you, it’s probably because you’ve heard them before on songs like Show You Off, Ego and Mad — say hello to Wurld. Yes, that background voice is Wurld’s
10. IDG – Asa feat. Wizkid

This highly anticipated song means a lot to afrobeats because it is something we have all expected for a long time — a Wizkid and Asa collaboration; and they didn’t disappoint. Maybe it would have hit differently if it was a love song (who knows) but still, it’s been trending on social media ever since it was released.
