A US Court has declared Kim Kardashian legally single at her Wednesday hearing in her divorce proceedings with her estranged husband, Kanye West.
The American socialite and entrepreneur is now free to change her name from Kim Kardashian-West to Kardashian, her parent’s name.
Kim Kardashian was present, while Kanye West was absent at the hearing, which took place via Zoom. However, the rapper’s lawyer didn’t object to the reality star’s single status after a judge granted the motion at Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The judge also made rulings on documents West filed last month where he requested three legal conditions. The first—any right to get reimbursement of money that’s supposed to be divided up will be preserved if either of them dies, which the judge granted.
The other two conditions rejected by the judge were that Kim would not transfer any assets she had in trust, and if she remarries, she would waive the “marital privilege”.
Speaking in a statement sent to Hollywood Unlocked, Kanye West said; “I’ve asked my team to expedite the dissolution of my marriage to Kim so I can put my entire attention into our beautiful children.”
Kim and Kanye were married for seven years with four children; 8-year-old North, Saint, a six-year-old, Chicago, four, and two-year-old Psalm.
The couple split in January 2021 and Kim officially filed for divorce a month later.
