Rekana, a Nigerian fashion brand, has released its first-ever fashion film, titled ‘Children of God,’ to promote its Rainy Resort 2022 collection.
The short film, which recounts the story of a troubled afro-modern man fleeing his past, will premiere on Rekana’s YouTube page on March 24, 2022.
‘Children of God,’ directed by AMVCA-nominated filmmaker Uche Odoh, contains a diverse cast that includes Charles Okah, and outstanding artist, Bertha Amuga, Shalewa Ashafa, Kemi Smallz, Munachi Abii, and Ijeoma Aniebo, among others.
The 12-minute film, which was shot in the center of Lagos, features a varied group of church members who are united in their pursuit of a common goal. ‘Children of God’ features a 19-member cast that essentially promotes beauty in variety while also showcasing 19 collection pieces.
The project is motivated by ‘love, passion, and inclusivity,’ according to Rekana’s Creative Director Sharon Ojong, who also serves as Executive Producer and Costume Designer on the project.
“We wanted to create a collection inspired by real people with real stories, clothing made with eco-friendly hand-woven and hand-dyed fabrics made with low impact materials for our tie-dye process. And I’m proud we were able to achieve that, both with the collection and the film.”
Rekana’s latest collection includes nineteen pieces, each of which is handcrafted to tell its own story while remaining coherent as part of a collection made with eco-friendly hand-woven and hand-dyed fabrics made with low-impact resources, in keeping with Rekana’s ethical and sustainability beliefs.
