Talented musician Rema has premiered his highly awaited debut album titled ‘Rave and Roses’, three years after he made his record-breaking entry into the Nigerian music industry with the energetic self-titled ‘Rema’ EP.
The ‘Rema’ EP contributed to the development and acceptance of Extended Playlists (EP) in the music industry in Nigeria with Rema himself serving as a leader of the new generation musicians, using the internet and social media to his advantage as major tools for his music promotions and career growth.
Rema, signed to Jonzing World, a subsidiary of the Don Jazzy-led Mavin Records, positioned himself as the future of Afrobeats and later defined his music genre as Afro-Rave, infusing his unique singing style alongside other elements of African music and instruments to create his unique music brand.
The then 19-year-old newbie took the world on a journey into his creativity, churning out hits upon hits just as he was born to do. Rema, real name Divine Ikubor, made himself a household name sooner than expected by a good deal of music key players and extended his tentacles into the African and International scenes through strategic campaigns and collaborations with other musicians across the globe.
With three extended plays, over 20 hit singles like ‘Dumebi’, ‘Spiderman’, ‘Woman’, ‘Bounce’, ‘Soundgasm’, ‘Calm Down’, ‘Bad Commando’, ‘Rewind’, just to mention a few, and multiple award recognitions, Rema has now dropped his first studio album, ‘Rave and Roses’, at age 21.
‘Rave and Roses’ is a compilation of 16 songs, featuring 6lack, Chris Brown, AJ Tracey, and Yseult. He dubbed the album as the piece of his soul to his fans worldwide.
The young chap with enviable music knack said the album is a fresh air for afrobeats while speaking at the exclusive album listening party for his very first studio album on Sunday, March 13, 2022.
“I see this project as a fresh air when it comes to afrobeats,” Rema stated, adding that “I see it as a gesture to seal my sound for good.”
Rema released the album in the early hours of Friday, March 25, 2022.
