They say, ‘a man’s character is not defined by his mistakes’.
Gospel music star, Sammie Okposo, has made his first public appearance in Nigeria after the adultery saga that almost crashed his marriage and music career.
He stepped out for journalist, Azuh Arinze’s 50th birthday and book launch on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Ahead of the event, the celebrant had announced that the singer would honour him with his presence at the event and would be among the guest performers of the day.
Many were skeptical that Okposo would appear at the event, let alone perform. This was because Okposo had withdrawn to his shell after his adultery saga. He stopped making public appearances in Nigeria and he took a break from his singing ministry too.
But he was in Illinois, USA on March 7 to attend the 2022 Soar Award ceremony, where he won the “International Artiste of the Year” Award.
Guests were surprised to see him at the birthday party cum book launch. But they were disappointed when the event ended without the much anticipated performance from Okposo.
When his arrival was announced at the event, he sat quietly for the few hours he spent at the occasion. Most guests didn’t even notice when he left as he calmly exited the venue of the event alone.
Recall that a few weeks ago, a Nigerian lady based in the United States, African Doll, called out the gospel act for making her pregnant, abandoning her and later asking her to abort the pregnancy.
Following the lady’s move, Okposo went on a musical break, took a break from social media for a while, tendered an open apology to his wife, Ozioma and the body of Christ for his misdeed. He suspended himself from ministerial work and promised to resume after getting fully restored to faith. He recently took his wife out of the country on a vacation.
