Popular gospel Juju, Yinka Ayefele’s radio station, Fresh FM, in Ibadan, Oyo state, was on Sunday morning attacked by three armed robbers.
According to reports, the armed robbers broke into the popular radio station at about 6:15 AM on April 10, 2022, made away with phones, laptops, ATM cards, and gadgets, hurting no one.
Narrating how the burglars gained entry into the media house, an eyewitness said they accessed the radio station through the front door while Gospel Tune programme was ongoing.
The witness stated; “Three armed robbers came just after 6am while the gospel tune programme hosted by Agboola Babatunmise was on,” a witness said.
“They gained entry through the front door. They were fully armed. They took all our mobile telephones and laptops computers. They also took away laptops and desktop computers belonging to the station.
“Although they could not gain entrance into the studio where the live programme was being aired, we were all shocked and had to go off air for some time while the robbers were around.
“There was fear that they might do us arm if we mention it immediately while they were still with us. Ayefele, the chairman has rushed to the office to ascertain the extent of the loss. Thank God no life was lost in the attack.”
Kenny Ogunmiloro, a staff at Fresh FM, also confirmed the incident via Twitter. He tweeted; “Nowhere is safe again, not even radio stations are spared again in d porous level of insecurity in the country.
“My radio station was robbed by 3 armed men this morning around 6.15 am. Phones, laptops, ATM cards, and gadgets were taken away but no one was hurt. This is sad 💔.”
