Popular, award-winning Nollywood actress, Dakore Egbuson-Akande has revealed what she feels is one of the issues facing the Nigerian film industry.
The 43-year-old Nigerian actress stated that she feels that the multi-billion dollar business lacks structure and that is a problem that needs to be solved.
She revealed this while speaking about the support from the Nigerian government towards the Nollywood practitioners in the country.
“The Nigerian government has not supported Nollywood enough, I am sure they tried but they’ve not just quite found the formula yet.
“For me, as a practitioner, I know that we suffer from a lack of structure so that’s really what we need. That is the first thing, structure in terms of residual income for actors, welfare for us, you know making sure that we have proper health care and all of those things because we really are projecting Nigeria to the world so we really should be supported in that way.”
In the same vein, Dakore Egbuson-Akande hinted at the return of Castle by Castle while she stated that she’s working on the film’s set among other projects.
“I have been working on films, Castle by Castle, it is coming back I am so excited about that. I also just shot my own film and also powered by Nigerian Breweries so I am really doing a lot, also I have launched my beauty product ‘Dakore beauty’ so I am a really busy woman and you are going to be seeing more of me on the big screens and Netflix as usual.”
