Burna Boy, during his memorable record-breaking concert at the Madison Square Garden last night, confirmed he will release another album on July 2, 2022.
Burna Boy had in September 2021 written on his Instagram stories that he would take a step back from releasing an album. He noted that he won’t be dropping an album until further notice.
“I might decide to NOT drop an album for a long time. In fact, you know what, no album till further notice,” he shared in the post.
The Grammy winner has, however, had a rethink and he made it known to the world at the sold-out concert while delivering his historic performance at the Madison Square Garden in New York on Thursday night, April 28, 2022, that an album is coming.
Burna Boy disclosed that the album is titled ‘Love, Damini’, a self-titled compilation of songs, will be released on his birthday—July 2. He also gave the event goers a QR code to pre-order the LP.
If Burna Boy will make good of his words, the ‘Love, Damini’ musical project will shine lights on how he embraced his pain and turned it into success.
“This next album. I need you to hear the pain in my voice, The pain of an OUTSIDER, Forever marked by my skin, my past and the place I come from No matter how skilled I am or how honourable I proved myself”.
“I forever suffer. The dull eyed masses hatred of anything they do not understand. I embraced my pain and turned it into the greatest weapon this world will ever know”, Burna Boy shared on Twitter in May 2021.
The upcoming ‘Love, Damini’ album is going to be the follow-up to his 2020 album, ‘Twice As Tall.’ The compilation of top-notch songs by Burna Boy emerged as the Global Music Album of the year at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
‘Twice As Tall’ earned the self-proclaimed African Giant his first Grammy Award.
