10 interesting facts about veteran Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh ‘Osuofia’

Niyi Akinmolayan, the director of the popular Nigerian TV drama, ‘Chief Daddy’ amongst other big productions has shared his opinion on Nollywood filmmakers’ attempts at competing with Hollywood.

While talking about the obvious attempts of many Nollywood filmmakers to rival Hollywood movies, Niyi Akinmolayan cited the huge financial gap and pressure from streaming services to compete with films that get bigger budgets as an apparent way to stress themselves.

“Your film will never look like a Hollywood film with that your Nollywood budget. Stop struggling and pressuring the crew till they break. It has nothing to do with you or your good intentions. All this “we can compete with Hollywood” will only stress you. Do the best you can with what you have.

“A Hollywood studio can reshoot half of the movie just because someone doesn’t like something. They can tweak it till it’s perfect. My dear, it’s called Money. You are not doing badly. You just don’t have money to make your film perfect.”

Meanwhile, the epic film ‘King of Thieves,’ co-produced by the filmmaker’s Anthill Studio, continues to set records. The film has surpassed N265 million at the box office in its sixth week.
