Different reactions have sparked up since the arrest of former Nigerian Senate Deputy President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice by the Metropolitan Police in London.
Ekweremadu and his wife are in police custody for alleged conspiracy to harvest the organs of a child.
Reacting to the news in an Instagram post on Thursday, Nollywood actress, Victoria Inyama stated that the senator and his wife probably thought that having money can cover them. She added that those living in Nigeria do not know what rich Nigerians do abroad. She wrote:
“It’s all over the news…On a tip-off, the Met police, as usual, calmed down and have been investigating….they probably thought money can cover them as usual in Nigeria…..Nigerians don’t even know half of what your rich adored folks get up to.”
Media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu also reacted to the couple’s arrest in a Twitter post on Thursday. Obi-Uchendu stated that they are constantly exporting and importing disgrace. He wrote:
“Constantly exporting and importing disgrace. SMH.”
According to the force, the investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.
