The police escorts attached to Grammy winner Burna Boy, who were arrested over a shooting at socialite Obi Cubana’s club have broken silence.
Burnaboy has been in the news since the reports of the alleged shooting of two fun-seekers by his police escort at the club situated in Victoria Island surfaced online.
One of Burna Boy’s police escorts was said to have opened fire on Irebami Lawrence and Tolu, his friend.
The shooting was said to have occurred after the singer allegedly made a pass at a lady said to be Lawrence’s wife.
The Lagos State Police Commissioner’s Special Squad detained five policemen attached to Burna Boy for attempted murder.
However, according to Vanguard, the policemen, who were arrested on the directive of the inspector-general of police, denied firing shots at the party and insisted during interrogation that the bullet fired was not from their rifles.
The policemen, all corporals, were said to have argued that there were other uniform policemen within the premises of the club when the incident happened.
Meanwhile, Burna Boy is yet to show up to explain his side of the matter since the incident happened, as he reportedly travelled to Spain.
Fans reacted after the lady simply identified as Briella Neme, Burna Boy’s “object of attraction” took to her Instagram page to reveal how the incident left her traumatised and broken.
Obi Cubana, reacting to the incident, noted that the management has given all information to the legal authorities to “handle all”.
He also sympathised with “those who may have been impacted” by the incident.
