Afrobeat artistes, Rema and Omah Lay have reacted to criticism that trailed their performances at the Afronation concert in Portugal.
The singers were among artistes that performed on the opening day of the concert on Friday.
However, their performances were not well received by a segment of their fans who took to social media platforms to pour out their disappointment.
A lady in a viral video called out both singers, arguing that they fail to live up to expectations as vocalists.
“My honest opinion about Afronation day one… beautiful place, amazing energy but my biggest criticism of this festival so far is my beautiful West African artistes that I saw yesterday, especially Omah Lay and partly Rema,” she had said.
“Why are you not singing? We came to see you live, you’re vocalists.. and your main instrument is your voice..we came all the way to Portugal to watch… honestly… I’m not satisfied.”

Responding, Rema in a twitter post said the poor sound setup was responsible for the way things turn out at the event.

On Omah Lay’s part, he wrote, “Apologies to you and all the fans that feel this way. I woulda loved to give you better but I had to do this entire show without hearing myself cuz I wasn’t provided with sound on my IEM.”
