Singer Daniel Benson, professionally known as BNXN, says marijuana should be legalised in Nigeria to prevent it from falling into the hands of ‘dangerous people’.
The singer formerly known as Buju said this in an Instagram live session on Monday.
According to the singer who confirmed he is a smoker, marijuana is the only drug that makes him laugh. He added:
“You don’t know that if you legalise marijuana you’re literally taking it off the hands of dangerous people, people don’t have to go to extreme lengths just to smoke to feel good.”
Recall that in a Twitter post on February 18, BNXN announced he would no longer be bearing the name Buju.
“It’s no longer ‘Buju’. Call me ‘Benson’ written as ‘BNXN’,” he wrote.
According to him, the change of name became necessary after the artiste was mistaken for a Jamaican singer Buju Banton.
Buju was initially signed to Burna Boy’s Spaceship Collective in 2020 but refused to renew his contract when it expired in 2021. According to him, he ‘wants to do something new on his own’.
He has worked with many top artistes, including Wizkid, The Cavemen, Timaya, Patoranking, Zlatan and Burna Boy.
