‘Money Miss Road,’ Obi Emelonye’s latest action-comedy has been confirmed for a theatrical release on the big screens in July.
The Joy Odiete-produced film will be released in theaters on July 22, 2022, one month after its official trailer was released.
The Emelonye-directed movie stars Jidekene Achufusi (Living In Bondage), Josh ‘Josh2Funny’ Alfred, and seasoned performer Charly Boy. It centers on two down-on-their-luck pals named Josiah and Joseph.
Josiah (Achufusi) checks into a nearby hotel, and when Lucy (Oma Iyasara), their three daughters, and their spouse, unexpectedly show up, a mix-up places him in the room of Diokpa (Charley Boy), a local gang leader.
As a result of what Joseph discovers in Diokpa’s room, both Joseph and his friend Josiah (Josh2Funny) experience major changes in their lives. This sets off a cat-and-mouse game in which Diokpa tracks the two Joes to Lagos, where they have grown into the biggest guys in town.
With Money Miss Road, Emelonye employs his amazing storytelling technique, which has won him numerous local and international awards, to explore the in-demand action-fused comedy genre.
The seasoned director said he had always intended to bring more humorous characters to life after his comedy picture Onye Ozi.
“After a few years of biopics, dramas, and the likes, I thought it was time to work on an action-packed comedy with memorable characters.”
Anthony Monjaro, Chioma Adibe, and Melvin Oduah also appear in Money Miss Road in supporting roles.
