Uche Maduagwu, a controversial Nollywood actor, has dragged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through the mud for selecting actress Funke Akindele to run as its Deputy Governor of Lagos state in 2023.
Maduagwu attacked the filmmaker, sighting her failure to adhere to the Lagos state’s COVID-19 laws during the 2020 lockdown as the reason she is unfit to hold a leadership role in the state as a deputy governor.
Maduagwu wrote on his Instagram page that selecting Funke Akindele as Deputy Governorship candidate for Lagos in 2023 election was preposterously insensitive because she threw a housewarming party during lockdown without regard for the social distancing guidelines.
“Aunty Funke Is a fantastic Actress But selecting her as Deputy Governorship Candidate for Lagos 2023 is preposterously insensitive. A celeb Wey no fit Respect Social distancing By throwing house Party During Lockdown Is ignorant of spiritual Leadership,” Maduagwu said.
Maduagwu also called on the thespian to confirm if her candidacy as Lagos Deputy Governorship for the coming 2023 election was a joke. “Dear Aunty Funke, you are a senior colleague and I have tremendous respect for your superb prowess in #acting but if this Na another Jenifa series, Abeg tell us.”
He added, “They say the true test of #LEADERSHIP is known during difficult times or adversity, and if at unpleasant time of never before seen #global pandemic when #Nigerians Dey observe social distancing to SAVE lives, you boastfully threw a flamboyant house #PARTY without cognitive RESPECT for safety and the effect of such absurd act on the millions of innocent fans who look up to you, it shows you have a long way to go on leadership spiritual journey in the prolific #school of OBIdient Ma.”
Funke Akindele had on Tuesday confirmed her candidacy as the deputy governor to the PDP gubernatorial contestant, Olajide Adediran, profoundly called Jandor. In the actress’ post on Instagram, she disclosed she will put her movie career on hold to carry out the mission.
