Nigerian filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan has confirmed that feature-length film, ‘Anikulapo’ will be released on Netflix on September 30, 2022.
The Nigerian filmmaker announced on Tuesday that the Netflix original will begin streaming on the service on September 30 – months after Oyo after principal photography was wrapped up for the film in Oyo state.
In the starring character of ‘Anikulapo,’ Kunle Remi portrays a young guy who is searching for greener pastures in the historic Oyo empire.
Sola Sobowale, Bimbo Ademoye, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Taiwo ‘Ogogo’ Hassan, Aisha Lawal, and other actors are slated to appear in the movie.
When the epic’s start of principal photography was announced in February, the renowned filmmaker promised to wow moviegoers, especially because it will tackle topics comparable to those of HBO’s popular series “Game of Thrones,” but with a portrayal of Yoruba culture.
A new slate of African films, including EbonyLife’s newly debuted ‘Elesin Oba, The King’s Horseman,’ the much awaited adaptation of Wole Soyinka’s play ‘Death and the King’s Horseman’ have been announced by Netflix.
