Prominent Nigerian artist, Adedamola Adefolahan, better known by his stage name Fireboy DML has opened up on the first time he had a creative block and thought that was the end of his musical career.
The singer who recently revealed his father made him sign an undertaking to obey, if he didn’t ‘blow’ within two years of dropping out of school, also opened up on his musical style and the themes that drive majority of his lyrics.
Fireboy stated that for the first time in his life, in 2021 he thought he had lost his ability to make music forever because he lost his mojo, but his boss Olamide backed and inspired him.
The ‘Peru’ hitmaker claimed that the majority of the heartbreak tunes on his maiden album, ‘Laughter Tears & Goosebumps’, were about ladies whose hearts he had previously broken.
When interviewed by UK-based broadcaster Adesope Olajide, Fireboy DML offered this surprising remark.
Fireboy DML added that although he usually tells other people’s tales in his love-themed songs, this time around, he is revealing his own in the song Apollo.
When Adesope questioned him about if he knew or felt that LTG would be a historic hit, Fireboy DML responded that he was worried and doubtful because the album came out after he had just released two songs.
Fireboy DML added that he used to pray to God for a hit album like Wizkid’s Superstar, an Afrobeats artist. See video below:
