American R&B singer Usher Raymond has embraced the title of ‘King of Rhythm and Blues (R’n’B).’
In a recent chat with Bevy Smith on Bevelations, the revered musician disclosed he has worked hard to earn the title and would not ask people to regard him as the king of the R&B music genre again.
Usher said nobody does R&B better than him because he stood on the shoulders of all the late iconic R&B artistes like Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Little Richard, and others.
He noted he is the last of his kind while maintaining that he deserves the title. “King, whatever you wanna call it,” the eight-time Grammy Award winner said “Yeah, I’ve been working to the point where I do own that, and I do deserve that…”
“And I ain’t gonna ask for it no more. You’re gonna give it. Because I did work for it,” Usher added.
