Outstanding music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido recently slammed the South African record producer, DJ Maphorisa for attempting to discredit his efforts in making Amapiano a popular music genre.
Recall that after Wizkid released his ‘Bad To Me’ track lately, social media users engaged themselves in a series of debates. While some claimed that Wizkid is leveraging on Davido’s efforts in making Amapiano a popular genre, others hailed the jam as a hit.
In line with the ongoing Twitter brouhaha, a Twitter user identified by her handle as @LadyRoza_001 claimed that Davido was the one who popularized Amapiano, and here is Wizkid jumping on it.
She wrote
Davido brought Amapiano from South Africa two years ago and made it a successful genre in Africa and Beyond, Wizkid is now hopping on the same genre after davido made it a successful genre. This is how many African artists have been benefiting from Davido’s success for over 12yrs.
Debunking the statement, DJ Maphorisa recalled how he and Kabza brought Burna Boy and Wizkid together for the first time 3 years ago for an Amapiano song.
He argued:
Kabza & Maphorisa was the first to put Wizkid n Burnaboy on a amapiano song Sponono dat was a historical moment 3 years ago, research before tweet
also it was the first time Wiz n Burna jumped on a same song together
let it sink in 🦅❤️.
Replying to this, Davido who saw this as an effort to discredit his impact on the projection of the Amapiano music genre, tackled Maphorisa while demanding to know why he dislikes him.
Davido wrote:
You’ve never liked me y ? I’ve always been good to you …. Anyways ! AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY NOW!!!!!! Chu chu chu chu chu.
