Nigerian comedian, Abisi Emmanuel Ezechukwu popularly called Nasty Blaq, has reacted to the speculations of endorsing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
This comes following backlash from photos of him and his colleague with Atiku Abubakar made the rounds on social media.
Giving clarification to the photo, Nasty Blaq, in a statement shared on his Instagram, said he has not endorsed any candidate or political party, stressing that he is contributing his own bit to the political process.
According to him, the viral photos with Atiku were taken during a recent visit which offered them the opportunity to engage with stakeholders in the election process.
The skit maker said they also had a meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission and their goal is to channel their influence for good and find ways to ascertain how young people can participate in politics.
He added that it is ridiculous for anyone to suggest that he has endorsed parties or candidates, hence people should stop spreading falsehoods about him.
The statement read:
“I have been informed that some posts going round social media have suggested I endorsed political candidates for the upcoming general elections.
“I would like to state VERY CLEARLY that I HAVE NOT ENDORSED ANY CANDIDATE OR PARTY!
As a young Nigerian, I am doing my own bit to contribute to the political process. Recently I joined other public figures to explore ways of engaging with stakeholders in the election process. We have had several meetings with political aspirants and even the Independent National Election Commission. Our goal is to channel our influence to good, and find ways to better ascertain how young people can participate in the political process, and in a healthy way.
“It is ridiculous that anyone suggests I have endorsed parties or candidates from opposing parties. As a public figure, I understand the importance of clarity and transparency. On this note, I ask any and every one spreading these falsehood about me stop IMMEDIATELY.”
