The Africa Film Academy’s Film In A Box project has premiered a short film titled ‘Long Walk To Forever’ made by the project’s students in Epe.
The initiative birthed by Peace Anyiam Osigwe in collaboration with the Lagos State Government was aimed at strengthening the capabilities of important local governments like Alimosho, Badagry, and Epe in the entertainment industry.
According to the project coordinator, students participated in a four-week theory period before moving to the practical component of the project which then led to the creation of ‘Long Walk To Forever.’
“The purpose of the premiere is geared towards actualising their project for Africa Film Academy (AFA).
“We came in and had a workshop with the students in different departments like acting, directing, scriptwriting, cinematography.
“AFA in conjunction with Lagos State put together a workshop for the indigenes of Epe, creative people, who are interested in joining the entertainment industry. They finished with their workshop and the students put together a short film to showcase what they have learned.”
Also, all hopes are on the Lagos State Government’s commitment to continue seeing projects like this come to life across the states to empower the people.
“We are hoping this would help the students move on from here into something bigger. Lagos state has been good with grants and the rest. They put together stuff and hopefully, they would be empowered.”
