Willie Spence, ‘American Idol’ runner up dies at 23

‘American idol’ runner up Willie Spence is said to have died at 23 after sustaining injuries in a car accident.

Spence appeared on Season 19 of The Voice, and singer Katharine McPhee sang a duet with him on that episode. McPhee appeared to confirm the news on her Instagram Story and posted footage of her mourning Spence.

“I received very tragic news tonight,” she wrote above a video of her and Spence meeting. “Sweet @williespenceofficial passed away in a car accident. Only 23 years old. Life is so unfair and nothing is ever promised.

“God rest your soul Willie. It was a pleasure to sing with you and to know you.”

She added a video in which he posted right before he died.
