DSTV Nigeria is making sure that Olu Jacobs gets his roses while he can still smell them.
The cable television network is celebrating the veteran Nollywood actor in a documentary, ‘Doyen of Nollywood: Celebrating Olu Jacobs at 80’.
The Femi Odugbemi directed flick which aired on DSTV channels, Africa Magic Showcase, 151 and Africa Magic Urban 153 on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15, respectively, features interviews from people closet and dearest to Olu Jacobs.
A repeat broadcast is set to air on DSTV channel 151 on October 24 by 10:00pm.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls actress Joke Silva yet again debunked the death rumour about her husband, Olu Jacobs who recently clocked 80 years old.
The 60-year-old debunked the rumour in a statement shared on Instagram on Monday, August 29.
The actress also threatened to take legal action against those spreading the fake news about her husband’s death. The statement read:
“Good day everyone, trust all is going well. The Jacob clan would love to inform you that Pa J (Olu Jacobs MFR) is alive and enjoying himself as always in the comfort of his home and loved ones. To all those that have decided to ignore our last warnings regarding fake new, kindly prepare for legal action.”
In October 2021, Joke shut down rumours of her husband’s death after the fake news circulated on the internet. She told The Punch.
“Don’t mind them, they’re just talking rubbish; don’t disturb your head. He is in the living room right now about to have Eba and Ogbono soup. Let them keep deceiving themselves. He is hale and hearty.”
Olu Jacobs was also rumoured dead in 2020.
Actress Lala Akindoju who is quite close to the veteran and his wife, however, debunked the rumour in a Twitter post saying that she spoke with the 80-year-old and he was “alive and well”
A star of several film, TV and theatre productions, Olu Jacobs has been off the acting scene for a while due to age.
