Vector Commemorates #EndSARS With Visuals For ‘Insomnia’ (Watch)

Veteran Nigerian rapper Vector Tha Viper has put out the video for ‘Insomnia’ to commemorate the second-year remembrance of those massacred at the #EndSARS protest ground in Lekki, Lagos state of Nigeria.

The government maintained that the men of the Nigerian Army, who took to the protest ground to ‘maintain peace,’ didn’t kill anyone, despite multiple sources and eyewitnesses stating otherwise.

The minister of information, Lai Mohammed, said nobody was killed at the tollgate, branding the reports as ‘fake news.’ He also attacked DJ Switch, a prominent disc jockey, who recorded the viral video of the army shooting #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki tollgate.

Nigerian judicial panel, according to AfricaNews, confirmed that soldiers ‘shot, injured and killed’ peaceful protesters demonstrating against police brutality at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos. After investigating, Amnesty International said the shootings at the tollgate and in another part of Lagos left 12 people dead.

#EndSARS is a social movement and protest by the youths against police brutality in Nigeria. The term was used to call for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The unit of the Nigeria Police, SARS, was dismissed after multiple outcries and massive protests that rocked different parts of the nation.

#EndSARS gained global recognition through social media. Nigerians in the diaspora also stood up to speak in solidarity with the youths.
