The headliners for the 18th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards, AMAA, have been confirmed as legendary Juju singer and master guitarist, King Sunny Ade, and singing duo, P-Square.
The film awards will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2021, at the Jewel Aeida Hall in Lekki, Lagos.
The awards ceremony will be hosted by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has promised a magnificent week to the anticipated film practitioners from Africa and the diaspora.
The 18th edition of AMAA began on Friday, October 21, 2002, with an Islamic session in Lagos State’s Agege neighborhood. On Sunday, October 23, 2022, the prayer session was followed by a Mass celebration at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Yaba.
On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, over 900 trainees graduated from a three-month film camp organized by Africa Film Academy in association with the Lagos State Government’s Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Tourism.
Kingsley James, AMAA’s show director, and the content organizer said that the events announcing the 18th edition of AMAA point to a remarkable show.
Other acts confirmed by James include Yinka Davies, Young Jon, Ayo Bankole, Zadok, Matty, Veentage Band, DJ Kenchello, and Gerald Eze.
The path to the AMAA gala night continues with events that include a film and music conference on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Jewel Aeida Hall in Lekki, and the AMAA Fashion show on the same day.
