Afrobeats sensation, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid, has caused a stir online following his statement on kicking old men out of power in 2023 general election.
The Starboy Crooner, who spoke in an interview with British daily newspaper, Guardian, said he will be more involved in the elections next year than he has ever been during past elections.
The music star further suggested that they need to not just retire but also go to an old people’s home to relax and spend the rest of their years.
“I’m about to go crazy on their a**es this election. All these old men are going out of power this time. They need to go to an old people’s home and chill out,” he said, referencing the upcoming presidential election.
Big Wiz also revealed that he is one of those who feel unable to celebrate the country’s October 1st independence day as a result of government’s failure and injustice.
“There’s nothing to celebrate, except that [Nigerians] are amazing people in music, sports, comedy – entertainment in general. I’m proud of young Nigerians doing things around the world in tech. I have amazing friends, doing amazing things. That’s it, though. There’s nothing else,” he added.
The Singer expressed optimism, amid the country’s present situation, saying he still has “big hopes” for Nigeria.
“I feel hopeful there’ll be change. How soon? I’m not sure. But a lot has changed from growing up to now. There was a time when you could never speak to the president or anyone in government like that. But now you have a voice.”
Reacting, Some Nigerians on social media hailed the Award-winning superstar for his assertion on 2023 elections and love for the country.
Others claim booting the old politicians out from politics is going to be a tall order.

They include the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu; People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar; New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
The current unsavoury state of affairs in the nation and the need to rescue it from further degeneration has attracted keen attention to the criteria for choosing who the next president becomes.
