Humor: Actors Kunle Remi, Deyemi Okanlawon trade words over characters in Anikulapo, Elesin Oba

Talented Nigerian movie stars, Kunle Remi and Deyemi Okanlawon have engaged in a light banter over the characters they played in Kunle Afolayan’s Anikulapo and Biyi Bandele’s Elesin Oba: The King’s Horseman respectively.

In Elesin Oba, Deyemi played Olunde, the son of the Chief who sacrificed his life for his people.

On the other hand, Kunle in Anikulapo, portrayed the character Saro, a young cloth weaver, who is brought back to life by a mystical bird after he was beaten to death for having an affair with Arolake, the Alaafin’s youngest wife.

On Sunday, in a tweet, Deyemi joked about how some of the characters he played in Nollywood ended up dying.

He wrote;

I’m starting to suspect Nollywood writers are trying to kill me… #BloodSisters #Brotherhood #ElesinOba,”

In response to his tweet, Kunle Remi said Deyemi would win the ‘best death award’ if the category was created.

Kunle’s words;

“You too gan sef, you like script that you gonna die.. they should start “best death” in a movie award. You will win every year,”

Deyemi fired back at Kunle, reminding him of how his character got into trouble because of a woman.

Saro you’re talking? You that your head resembles the yansh that got you in trouble?”, he wrote.

As the duo continued their argument, Kunle joked about how Deyemi’s character was also killed in Mo Abudu’s Blood Sisters.

At least it resembles something… we are still trying to figure out your own that’s why they cut it in blood sisters. We need it in a lab. Becosssss,” he wrote.
