Nigerian musician Teni the Entertainer has departed Dr Dolor Entertainment, the record label that was instrumental in her rise to stardom.
The brilliant diva revealed this in a social media post, stating that her new body of work would be her best album yet.
Dr Dolor Entertainment recruited Teni, a fantastic and energetic singer, for five years. During her time at the label, the 28-year-old released numerous popular songs, including ‘Fargin,’ ‘Askamaya,’ ‘Case,’ and ‘Uyo Meyo,’ among others.
In October 2019, she released ‘Billionaire E.P,’ and in April 2020, she released ‘Quarantine Playlist,’ a collaborative endeavour with legendary disc jockey DJ Neptune. Teni dropped her critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Wondaland,’ in 2021.
Announcing her forthcoming album, Teni said she is now an independent artist, who was not signed to any record label, and that her fans should prepare for the new project. “Independent now. I’m recording the best album of my life,” the artiste shared on Twitter.
The vibrant musician has won different awards and accolades in Nigeria and abroad. At the Headies Awards, she won ‘Rookie of the Year,’ ‘Best Pop Single,’ ‘Best Recording of the Year,’ ‘Viewer’s Choice,’ and ‘Best Vocal Performance (Female).’
The vocal powerhouse also received nominations for ‘Best New International Act’ at the BET Awards and ‘Best African Act’ at MTV Europe Music Awards.
Teni’s latest single, ‘Maitama (Going),’ is now sweeping the country and progressively climbing to the top of several music charts.
