Music star Daniel Oyebanjo, professionally known as D’banj has been released by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) after almost 72 hours in detention.
The singer’s attorney, Pelumi Olajengbesi confirmed that he was released on Friday afternoon but the ICPC might summon him later.
Olajengbesi noted that D’banj was released on self-recognition but did not state whether the ICPC granted the singer administrative bail.
He also said the ICPC did not trace any evidence of fraudulent activity to the singer. He said:
“Nothing incriminating was found on him. He was released on self-recognition. Right now, we expect the ICPC to give a letter of clearance to Dbanj because, as we have always said, he is innocent of the charges brought against him.”
Recall that the 42-year-old was detained by the ICPC on Tuesday for allegedly collaborating with some government officials to introduce ghost beneficiaries into the payroll of the N-Power scheme in order to divert funds.
