Nigerian actor Yul Edochie recently declared himself a proud polygamist, a statement which has sparked reactions from Industry colleagues and fans.
In a lengthy post via his social media timeline on Sunday, December 18, the controversial movie star had justified his action to become a polygamist with a backup reference from a bible verse, Exodus 21 vs 10.
Yul, who is married to two wives said he was directed by God to be a polygamist to give his son a proper identity.
The father of five acknowledged that his first wife May Edochie was not happy about his marriage to Actress Judy Austin but he stressed that it was a blessing for her.
Part of his statement reads;
“Therefore polygamy came with many blessings. Blessings for me, blessings for my wife Queen May to calm her down cos as a human being she’ll definitely not be happy about it, and blessings for my wife Judy as well.”
However, Few of his colleagues in the entertainment industry, Peggy Ovire and Daddy Freeze, tackled him over his controversial post.
Daddy Freeze wrote;
“My brother there is nothing wrong with polygamy. It is scriptural like you noted. Abraham, David and Solomon were all polygamists.
Polygamy can’t stop you from being a man of God. However, the only issue is that May @mayyuledochie is NOT happy. Traditionally (with regards to Nigerian culture) and scripturally, the first wife must consent.
May made it clear that she didn’t consent. This is my issue. Do have yourself a happy holiday.”
Peggy Ovire’s comment:
“You had too do this on Sunday morning”
