Child sex crimes: R. Kelly sentenced to fresh 20 years in prison

Troubled American Robert Kelly professionally known as R. Kelly has been sentenced to another 20 years’ imprisonment.

He was convicted and sentenced on Thursday by U.S.District Judge Harry D. Leinenweber sentenced the 56-year-old to 20 years’ after he was found guilty by a jury for child pornography and enticement of a minor.

Kelly, already serving a federal 30-year sentence after he was found guilty on three counts of production of child pornography and three counts of enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity in a federal trial last year, was found guilty of sexual molestation of a minor.

In the latest guilty verdict, the prosecutions were able to produce concrete video evidence, showing the R&B singer sexually abusing his 14-year-old goddaughter, the New York times reported. The evidence was enough to convince the jury to find him guilty.

Handing out the judgement yesterday , U.S.District Judge Harry D. Leinenweber sentenced the 56-year-old to 20 years’ imprisonment in which 19 of those 20-year would be served concurrently with his earlier sentence instead of the 25 years sentence the prosecutors had demanded.

The remaining one year would be served consecutively, or after that sentence is completed.

“Robert Kelly is a serial sexual predator who, over the course of many years, specifically targeted young girls and went to great lengths to conceal his abuse of Jane and other minor victims. To this day, and even following the jury verdict against him, Kelly refuses to accept responsibility for his crimes,” the prosecutors argued.

The father-of-three remained silent from almost the entirety of the sentencing hearing and also refused to speak on his own behalf.
