Deyemi Okanlawon, a Nollywood actor, has apologized to Thaddeus Attah, the House of Representatives-elect for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, for a recent attack.
WITHIN NIGERIA previously reported that Attah had defeated popular singer Banky W and Babjide, son of Musiliu Obanikoro, a former minister of state for defense, in the election.
The shocking defeat has remained a topic of discussion online, especially since many celebrities expected Banky to win the election.
Deyemi Okanlawon questioned Thaddeus on his plans for Eti-Osa as the Honourable-Elect in a lengthy Instagram post, urging him to reveal his identity and pedigree.
According to the actor, he has done extensive research on the LP’s candidate and has yet to come across anything about his profile or manifesto for Eti-Osa.
In his open letter, Deyemi stated that he voted for popular Nigerian singer and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate BankyW because he believes the singer is the best candidate for the job.
The actor also asked Thaddeus for an Instagram live session to address concerns and answer questions.
However, many Nigerians criticized him online for the lengthy letter, claiming that the man deserves the position and that Banky W’s loss was due to his party.
Deyemi apologized to Thaddeus for his choice of words in an Instagram post on Friday evening.
He wrote:
In the early hours of today, in the spirit of the season wrote an open letter to the HOR-elect of Eti-Osa Local Government area, Mr. Thaddeus Attah. I admit I could have chosen better words and I could have not allowed the frustration that I have felt about this past week to affect the message that I was trying to pass across.
So I apologize to Mr. Attah and everyone who felt I was overreaching. I would now try to focus on the core of what I am saying so it’s clear and can’t be misconstrued in any way. I live in Eti-Osa.
