David Adeleke, better known as Davido, a multiple award-winning Nigerian singer, believes the 2023 general election wasn’t credible and transparent.

During the premiere of his fifth studio album, ‘Timeless,’ the ‘Dami Duro’ crooner revealed this in an interview with Lagos’ Beat 99.9FM on Friday.

Davido, who was offline for a time following the death of his son, Ifeanyi, said if he had been online, he would have been very vocal about the elections.

The singer, on the other hand, expressed satisfaction with the low voter turnout, emphasizing the importance of voter safety.

He said;

I’m happy that people were not really coming out. You know if I was online, I would have been really vocal about it (the election). I have always been vocal about it. But, I mean, I was happy about it. That’s just being honest.”

It’s what it is! But I personally don’t feel like that was really a credible election. Do you know what I’m saying? I feel like the most important thing is the safety of life of everybody. But in all, that wasn’t it. So, I don’t think I will be able to hide that. I can’t hide that.

Recall that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu, declared Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu received 8,794,726 votes, while Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 6,984,520 votes.

Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) finished third with 6,101,533 votes, while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) finished fourth with 1,496,687 votes.
