Nigerian skit maker, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, professionally known as Mr Funny or Oga Sabinus, has admitted that he engaged the services of a prostitute (Ashawo).
Sabinus narrated what happened on the faithful day during a question-and-answer session with his fans. A fan asked:
“You dey carry ashawo na, no lie. I be Mike.”
The self-acclaimed Mumu Man, admitted to have engaged the services of a prostitute only once but noted they ran out of luck.
It happened that they met the girl’s mother en route their destination and had to abort their ‘mission’ immediately. Sabinus replied:
“I don carry one but we no reach destination because the mama catch us for road.”
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls Big Brother Naija season 4 star cum Nollywood actress, Mercy Eke opened up on how she felt after finding out she will be playing an ‘ashawo’ role in the popular movie, Shanty Town.
During an interview with Nollywire, reality TV star cum actress, Mercy Eke gave more insight into her character and how she felt when she discovered her role of a prostitute (ashawo).
Describing her character, Mercy Eke said:
Jackie is a promising sex worker [laughs] There is no way you will put it. Jackie is a sex worker that got herself mixed up with Scar and got herself entangled with things that are not her business.
Shedding light on her reaction, after finding out the character she was to play, she said:
“I just said to myself you just have to be Jackie and play Jackie. It was a sweet character, like it’s something everybody can relate to in our society today. Everybody can totally relate to Jackie. So when I read the script, I was like it is what I can do. Yeah, let me just go and show my acting skills with Jackie.”
