Nollywood stars to hold post-burial honours for Murphy Afolabi

The Theatre Arts and Movies Production Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has announced post-burial honours and prayers for late actor, Murphy Afolabi.

According to the statement released online, an Artistes night would be held on Sunday, May 21st at LTV8 (blue roof) from 3 pm to 8 pm with all actors and filmmakers requested to be present.

On Monday, May 22nd Fidau prayers would be held at the same location. The post reads:

“Announcement on Late Murphy Afolabi’s post-burial honors/prayers

Sunday, May 21st: Artistes Night at LTV8 (Blue Roof) from 3 pm to 8 pm. All actors/filmmakers are expected to be present.

Monday, May 22nd: Fidau Prayer at LTV8 (blue roof) from 10 am to 4 pm.

Kindly endeavor to participate and attend.

Murphy Afolabi died on Sunday, May 14th, after suffering from a brief illness.

The actor was finally laid to rest on Monday at his residence in Ikorodu.

In videos that made the rounds, Nollywood stars like Damola Olatunji, Babatunde Bernard Tayo known as Baba Tee, Mr Latin, Bimpe Akintunde, Mercy Aigbe, and husband, Kazim Adeoti, and many more were at his burial venue.

In one of the videos posted online, Baba Tee was seen breaking down in tears as he bade his colleague goodbye.

Speaking on his death, Adebayo Tijani revealed his last conversation with Murphy Afolabi.

In an interview during his funeral, he claimed that he had spoken to Murphy Afolabi 30 minutes before his death and Murphy had predicted his death.

Adebayo revealed that Murphy made some statements about death during their conversation but he didn’t read meaning to it because Murphy was being his usual jovial self.

He further revealed that Murphy had called him to take some of the clothes he used for his birthday shoot and had sent money for their contribution earlier than usual. He added that Murphy said he didn’t know what would happen the next day or the minute. Read more here
