Victoria Inyama reacts as Benson Okonkwo drags AMVCA for snubbing him and other Asaba-based actors

Nollywood star Benso Okonkwo has criticised the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) for neglecting actors in the southeast.

The star-studded 9th edition of the AMVCA was held over the weekend at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Movie stars like Bimbo Ademoye, Tobi Bakre, Patience Ozokwo, Broda Shaggi as well as Osas Ighodaro won awards at the ceremony.

However, there were concerns on social media that movies produced in Asaba and other eastern parts of the country were neglected.

Speaking on the development, Benson Okonkwo, in a post on his Instagram stories, made a case for Enugu and Asaba actors who are not being recognised at the award ceremony.

He wrote;

AFRICA MAGIC VIEWERS CHIOCE AWARD O00 MY HEART IS BROKEN WHAT HAVE WE DONE OR ARE WE NOT WORKING HARD HERE IN THE EAST …ITS UNFAIR I SWEAR JUST LOOK AT THE STRENGTH WE USE IN MAKING MOVIES HERE YET NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT…TS HIGH TIME WE START.

AKIN OUR OWN AWARD 00 ASABA NOLLYWOOD AS THEY FONDLY CALL US TOO MANY TALENTS OUT HERE YET WE ARE NOT RECOGNIZED….ITS SO BAD, THIS AWARD SHOULD BE SCRAPED OFF”

Actress Victoria Inyama took to his comment section, urged Benson not to depend on AMVCA award organisers for their validation.

Victoria wrote;

Who are they to validate your work?..una dey disappoint me ..”

Some of the popular actors known for mostly featuring in Asaba movies include Yul Edochie, Destiny Etiko, Frederick Leonard, Ngozi Ezeonu, Ebele Okaro, others
