I always dreamt of being a newscaster or lawyer, not an actress – Ini Edo

Popular Nigerian film actress cum producer, Iniobong Edo has disclosed that it was her dream to end up as a newscaster or lawyer and not an actress.

Speaking in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, Ini Edo revealed that the late broadcaster, Tokunbo Ajayi, was her role model and she loved to watch her on TV when casting the news.

The mother of one who recently spoke on her failed marriage and how she opted for surrogacy after multiple miscarriages stated that becoming an actor was destiny.

The screen goddess said she was waiting for her UTME to study law when she chose to get a diploma in Theatre Arts pending the time. In Ini Edo’s words:

“I wanted to be a lawyer or newscaster. My role model was the late Tokunbo Ajayi. I always loved to watch her news. That is actually who I wanted to be like. I never really thought that I was going to be an actor.
“I have always been in the arts in school, church, you know. But then I went to do a Theater Art diploma when I was waiting for my JAMB to go do Law. Then I started doing stage acting. The opportunity to go to the film came, and I just became an actor. It was destiny.”

The thespian added that her family initially didn’t support her decision to become an actress.

Ini Edo revealed that a movie director, Ikenna Igwe was the one who came to her house to convince her parents to let her do the film.
