Renowned Nigerian music producer and record label executive, Don Jazzy, sheds light on the expenses involved in signing a new artist.
As the founder of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy has a wealth of experience in discovering and developing emerging talent in the music industry.
In a recent interview, he shares insights into the financial aspects of signing an artist.
He disclosed that he invests a huge amount of money, ranging from 50m to 100m naira, when signing new artists to his record label within a year.
He added that before making a decision, he does extensive research on the potential artist and eventually chooses the one with whom he has a close connection with.
Once chosen, he sets out on a quest to nurture and develop the chosen person’s potential while establishing a devoted fan base.
Don Jazzy added that despite his desire to sign more singers, he has the difficulty of not being able to include everyone in his record label.
