- Mikel Obi has finally spoken about the purported long-standing rift with musician Innocent Idibia, also known as 2Baba.
- Claims emerged that the 2010 hit track “Only Me” by 2Baba was a response to Mikel Obi, the former Chelsea player, following an alleged incident at a London club in 2006 where Mikel purportedly snubbed him.
- After several years have passed, Mikel has finally addressed the matter. He spoke about it when a concerned fan demanded to know the details of what happened.
Mikel Obi, the ex-captain of the Nigerian national football team, has finally addressed the rumored long-standing beef with Afropop icon 2baba.
In 2010, the music star 2baba released a hit song titled “Only Me.” This came after rumors spread that in 2006, the former Chelsea star Mikel Obi had ignored him at a London club.
2face stated that the song was never intended as a diss track or about Mikel, and he denies any such event ever took place..
Until recently, Mikel had never directly spoken about the rumors. However, when a curious fan asked him about it, he clarified that he never snubbed 2Baba at a London club.
Mikel emphasized that he is a huge fan of 2Baba and would never have done anything to disrespect him.
The Chelsea star posted a video of himself relaxing at home, where he can be seen listening to a song by the late South African legend Brenda Fassie.
In his caption, he wrote:
“When the music hits hard and you can’t get enough, Have a goodSunday,y my people.”
Reacting to the video, an Instagram user identified as xfranky22 asked the ex-football star about the old viral reports, saying:
“Did you truly snub 2face at a club in London back in 2006?”
Mikel debunked the rumour, saying:
“No, I never did. Am a big fan of his. So I wouldn’t do such a thing. Have a lovely day.”
