- In a fresh and fiery interview, the legendary Pete Edochie passionately lamented the startling and disheartening trend prevailing among Nollywood actresses.
- He bemoaned the disconcerting rate at which these women are parting ways with their husbands after solemnly declaring their unwavering commitment to stand together through all the ups and downs, in the sacred bond of matrimony.
Veteran Actor, Pete Edochie, in a juicy chat with a well-known media personality, Chude Jideonwo, didn’t hold back his emotions, showing his distaste for the rising divorce rates within the glitzy world of Nollywood.
In a jaw-dropping revelation, the seasoned actor expressed his utter shock upon hearing about the broken marriages of his female colleagues, Ireti Doyle, Tonto Dikeh, and Chioma Akpotha.
Emphatically, he emphasized that it’s crucial for everyone to grasp the sacred essence of marriage as an unyielding commitment, meant to weather both the good and tough time.
In his word,
“If you come to our Industry today, most of our ladies who got married 2- 3 years ago have all left their husbands, I was shocked that Chioma Chukwa had left her husband, Ireti Doyle, Tonto Dikeh.
You take a vow when you are going to get married for better or worst, not for better or out. You will always think it’s greener on the other side, that is the mistake we all make”
In an emotionally charged moment, Pete poured his heart out about the talented actresses who portrayed his daughters on the silver screen.
Among them, he singled out the luminous Genevieve Nnaji, whom he ardently adores. With starry-eyed affection, he hailed her as an unparalleled brilliance, a shimmering gem in the galaxy of performers, whose celestial talent left an everlasting impression on him.
Pete Edochie revealed that he hasn’t been in touch with her recently, especially since hearing rumors about her facing some mental challenges.
Uncertain of the veracity of the news, he expressed his heartfelt wish that she reaches out to him someday, just to let him know that she is doing well.
He said, “Of all the girls who had played my daughter in films, somehow it is Genevieve Nnaji I love most, I look at her as my daughter and she also sees me as a father, she is an exceptionally brilliant lady.
I have not heard of her lately ever since I heard she is a little disturbed mentally, I don’t know whether it is true or false, I hope that one day she calls me and say I am ok.
