I became homeless after I left Banky W’s record label – Skales

Skales revealed that he slept in his car for months after leaving EME record label

Popular musician Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known as Skales, has shared his experience after he left his former record label, Empire Mates entertainment.

The singer revealed that after Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) decided not to renew his recording deal and kicked him out from their flat, he became homeless and decided to sleep in his car.

Skales made this disclosure in a recent interview with Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos.

The artist stated that his success began after he released his song “Shake Body” on SoundCloud and it immediately went viral.

Before the song blew, he claimed to have considered moving abroad and starting his life afresh, but had gotten a call from Harry Tee and that was how his life changed.

He said:

When I left EME, I had nothing. Everything just ended in one day. I went from enjoying a luxurious life to sleeping in the car. As soon as my deal ended, I lost the house, they ,(EME management) told me to leave the house immediately.

All I had was one car, a Ford Explorer. And I was sleeping inside the car for a long time. Little did I know that I had a song that was going to change my life on my flash drive. So months later, I just put out the song [‘Shake Body’]. I didn’t have any promo money, nothing. I just uploaded it on Soundcloud. And it was just a wildfire. It was crazy. I didn’t even know the song was big. I believed, but I gave up because I was trying to japa [relocate abroad]. Then I got a call from Harry Tee, God rest his soul. That was how my life changed.”

In another story, Skales claims that Naira Marley demanded my removal from song we featured in – Skales

Skales stated that he was surprised when Harmonize contacted to notify him of Naira Marley’s position because they had no animosity between them.
