Numerous people have placed the blame for Mohbad’s death and the controversy that followed it on Naira Marley.
Following the release of a viral video showing the artist being assaulted before his death, a petition has been launched against the musician and his label.
The petition to outlaw his record label, Marlian, has gathered 50,000 signatures.
As you may recall, a video showing Naira Marley’s assistant Sam Larry harassing Mohbad enraged a lot of people.
In the video, Mohbad was filming a music video with Zlatan in a wheelchair when Sam Larry invaded the set with a matchet and other weapons.
Following the viral video, a swarm of people descended on his Instagram profile, demanding an explanation for the savagery.
This prompted Larry to restrict his comment section at first, and subsequently remove his page.
Netizens did not spare Naira Marley, calling for his songs to be removed from music streaming sites.
Mohbad was signed to Naira Marley’s “Marlian Records” before leaving in 2022.
Mohbad had in an Instagram live session following his release from NDLEA’s camp, cried out that Naira Marley and other members of the gang were after his life.
He voiced out that Naira Marley and Marlian music should be held responsible if anything ever happens to him.
The musician and rapper had also shared video footage of an alleged assault he experienced at the hands of Naira Marley’s Crew after requesting a change in management.
Naira Marley refuted his accusation by claiming that he was lying and leaked some informations about him.
In response, Mohbad stated his belief that justice would eventually be carried out.
In an interview, his friend and colleague Bella Shmurda claimed that Naira Marley was threatening his life.
Paulo Okoye, Iyabo Ojo’s lover and event promoter, also said that the singer had confided in him about his anxieties, harassment, and sadness.
